Our Puppies

Family-Raised Puppies with Expert Socialization
At Shade of Grey, we raise all of our puppies in a loving family environment. Our comprehensive puppy socialization program begins when the pups are just 5 days old. Using Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), we expose each puppy to gentle handling, including various positions, paw touches, and light stimulation like a soft breeze on their face. This early development routine is done daily to encourage healthy growth.

Puppy Development and Play Areas
Each puppy is given a distinct color collar and a temporary name to track their unique personalities as they develop. Around 3 weeks old, they transition from the whelping box to explore various surfaces such as cement, tile, carpet, grass, and more. During warmer months, our puppies enjoy large outdoor play areas on grass. In winter, our 2,200 sq. ft. facility becomes their indoor playground.

Socialization and Interaction
We believe that one-on-one time with our dedicated staff helps puppies become confident, well-rounded, and easier to train. Our puppies also visit Lucky Dog Stay and Play, where they are introduced to a daycare setting, allowing them to interact with dogs of all ages—an essential part of their social development.

Health and Veterinary Care
Our puppies are dewormed at 4, 5½, and 7 weeks old. At 6½ to 7 weeks, they undergo a complete vet check and receive their initial vaccination.

Puppy Selection and Pickup Process
Visitors are welcome throughout the puppy growth process, but selections are made during pickup weekend. Puppies are ready for their new homes at 8 weeks old. Selections are based on the order of deposits received, with most pickups happening on weekends to accommodate long-distance adopters. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff assist during the selection process by sharing insights into each puppy’s temperament and personality.

What’s Included in Your Puppy Pack
Each puppy goes home with a special puppy bag that includes:

  • AKC paperwork

  • Hip x-ray certifications for the parents

  • Veterinarian certificate

  • Various chew toys

  • A few days’ supply of TLC puppy food

  • A baby blanket scented with mom and littermates to ease the transition

Our goal is to raise happy, healthy, confident puppies that meet AKC standards and find loving, forever homes.
